The Mythic Tarot Card and Deck Look below at the workbook
cover to get a better idea of what the cards look like (we'd photo them for you--but we
don't want to violate anyone's copyright) - the cards are delicate and subtle--not nearly
as sepia toned as shown below. The cards are all based on famous Greek and Roman
myths, for example the numbered cards of each suit correspond to:
Cups: The love story of Eros and Psyche
Wands: The advertures of Jason and the Argonauts
Swords: The dark tale of Orestes and the
Cursed House of Atreus
Pentacles: The life of Daedalus
The scholarship behind this deck, and its skillful correlation of myths to cards,
is supurb and compelling. In addition, the general principles applied to each suit
can easily be applied to many other decks. This is our #1 choice for a starter's
deck--if you're willing to read and be enthralled. We suggest specifically
that you read the introduction to the Minor Arcana--it contains, in a few short pages,
enough clarification of the principles of the suits and court cards to give you a big
start with any decks you encounter.
And, of course, if you love a good tale--you'll read the book just for the pure enjoyment
of it!
