Goddess Hecate Gifts
Hecate (also Hekate or Hekat), was originally a goddess of the Carians of Asian Minor, but was transplanted to Greece and her cult found its way across Europe to the Celts. During Cleopatra's time, she was the "Goddess of the Spirits of the Dead" and a goddess of magic. Many of her earliest depictions show a three goddess--mother, maid and crone, signifying her triple-goddess nature. In some depictions, she is shown holding a snake, a key and a torch, as in the famous drawing by Stephanie Melarme (1880).
