Blue Hippo

Although this little gal is cute, the truth is that, although they eat only plants, hippos may inadvertently kill more people in Africa each year than any other animal, often by flipping boats over. Adult hippos have imposing tusks of up to 28 inches long, with mouths that can be a full 4 feet wide. The males are dangerously territorial and can be easily worked into a water-thrashing frenzy. Adults grow up to 5 feet in height and weigh from 4,000 to 8,000 pounds. But, let's face it, baby hippos are adorable!. The Hippo deity was supposed to be the patron deity of pregnant women--not exactly a flattering connection.

Seth, Lord of Chaos, Statue

With his characteristically odd-shaped head, Seth is was villanized during early Egyptian history, but became a hero to later dynasties, and his name became a common pharaohic name--Seti. Seth symbolizes chaos and decay, without which the universe would not stay in balance, and no collection of major Egyptian deities would be complete without him. He is the husband of Nepthys, sister of Isis.
