Sculpture and Paperweight. Beautiful turquoise-blue recreation of a favorite ancient Egyptian motif--the Scarab Beetle. These insects were considered sacred because they arose out of the ground at daybreak, and spend the day rolling a ball of dung in front of them. The Egyptians considered this to be symbolic of the sun being rolled across the sky, hence the Scarab symbolized the eternal, daily rebirth of the world. See matching Scarab Pencil Holder and Votive on this page Hand-painted cold-cast resin. 3 in. long |
Blue Hippo
Although this little gal is cute, the truth is that, although they eat only plants, hippos may inadvertently kill more people in Africa each year than any other animal, often by flipping boats over. Adult hippos have imposing tusks of up to 28 inches long, with mouths that can be a full 4 feet wide. The males are dangerously territorial and can be easily worked into a water-thrashing frenzy. Adults grow up to 5 feet in height and weigh from 4,000 to 8,000 pounds. But, lets face it, baby hippos are adorable!. The Hippo deity was supposed to be the patron deity of pregnant women--not exactly a flattering connection. Hand-painted cold-cast resin. 3 1/4 inches tall | Blue Hippo SUM5170

Tutankhamun on Papyrus Raft
An authentic reproduction of one of the many wonderful pieces found in Tuts tomb in 1922 by Egyptologist and adventurer, Howard Carter.
