Crystal Healing and Chakra Balancing is more than just laying stones on someone's body. In order have an effective session, the Client must be made comfortable and relaxed, and must participate in the process. The best Crystal Healing
and Chakra Balancing sessions include a total experience of light, color, sound, taste and feel. You should seriously consider creating a Total Experience for your client. Here are some suggestions:
1. Keep your initial sessions short. A crystal healing or chakra
balancing session of 15-30 minutes is optimal until you reach advanced stages of the art.
2. Music. We HIGHLY recommend that you play relaxing, hypnotic music during your session. Our favorite session music is the original version of Shamanic Dreams by Anugama. (Use the first cut only, since the 2nd cut of the CD contains ringing bells which interrupt the ambience of the session). If you prefer to use something other than Shamanic Dreams, select your favorite relaxing music. Be sure you that your sound equipment is adequate, but not overwhelming. You should not have to shout to be heard over the music!
3. Candles. What would a Crystal Healing or Chakra Balancing session be without candles? But, of course, place them safely and away from children and pets. We recommend container candles to minimize the risk of fire. If you are sure that your client is not allergic to fragrance, then try some soothing lavender or rosemary candles.
Cinnamon is too invigorating, and some floral scents can be irritating, especially if they contain gardenia or jasmine (which we love). Rose is usually soothing as is peach, violet and apple.
4. Incense or Aroma Oil. Fragrance is very important to the healing process--but check with your client first. Your session will end before it begins if you trigger an allergic reaction in your client! We suggest light floral scents in the spring and summer, and heavier scents such as patchouli, amber or cinnamon in the fall and winter. Fragrances specifically formulated for various types of Crystal Healing sessions are also available for advanced Crystal Healing Therapists.
5. Food and Drink. It's pretty hard to concentrate on the healing experience when your stomach is growling. Always offer your client some herbal tea or fruit juice (exotic fruit mixes are usually appreciated), and perhaps some genuine cheese, crackers and light fruit. NO HEAVY MEALS before a session, and if possible, neither you nor your client should eat meat within 12 hours prior to the session. Absolutely, positively DO NOT offer any alcoholic beverage--nor should you drink any yourself before or during the session. Mind altering substances, such as wine or beer, do NOT belong in a Crystal Healing session.
6. Client Comfort. Where to place the client? The floor is an obvious choice--but please, oh please, put down a clean blanket and clean, comfortable pillow. And be sure that the furniture is out of the way. Consider whether your client is easily able to get up and down from the floor--some people have joint or weight problems that prohibit them from getting up and down easily. Another possibility, is a massage table. If you have room to store one, and can afford it, this is the optimal solution. The sofa is also a
possibility, as well as your own bed--provided the client is a good friend and comfortable with this arrangement. If possible, place the client's head to the north and feet to the south, if possible, otherwise, place the client's head to the east and feet to the west.
7. Pets. Be aware that not everyone loves your little pets and may not appreciate Fido breathing in their face, or Kitty sitting on their head! Even if your client loves your animals (we love ours, too!) a playful pet can be a distraction. Corral those critters if they cause a disturbance or distraction.
8. Ambience. NO SMOKING. Smoking during a session--any session--be it Tarot, Reiki, Crystal Healing,
Chakra Balancing or whatever, is an insult to your Client. Your Client deserves your full attention. If you can't put off lighting up for the time it takes to conduct a session, then perhaps you are the one who needs ay session!
9. Client Permission. ALWAYS obtain permission from your client if you will be touching them in any way. Check your local laws in this regard.
10. The Setting. A clean, comfortable environment is always appreciated. Piles of junk, papers
or clothing laying around your session room do not help you or your client relax! Dim the room
somewhat, strong light tends to energize people, not relax them. Both you and your client MUST
TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONES AND PAGERS. Unplug the land phone during the session.
Turn off the television. If the neighbors are making lots of noise, close the windows. Play
relaxing music (see #2 above).
11. Privacy. Send the kids and your significant other to the movies. Privacy is required.
Remember that not everyone believes as you do, and your client will NOT appreciate
interruptions or ridicule. Never disclose the names of your clients to others without their
permission.
12. Concentration. You must concentrate ALL of your attention on your client or the session
will NOT be effective. This means that you do not answer the phone, the door, watch TV, play
with your cat or answer questions from your kids during the session. There must be
ABSOLUTE concentration on your part and on the part of your client. Your client and your art
deserve your BEST.
13. Preparation. Have everything ready BEFORE your client arrives. Anything less erodes the
client's confidence in your professionalism. Your behavior and attention to detail speak more
loudly about your abilities than any amount of advertising.
